A cowboy!!!
Kirkley and I were at the grocery store yesterday afternoon when she spotted a guy standing right next to us in a cowboy hat and boots. Loud as could be, she announces, "A cowboy!" I did not exactly know what to say other than a nervous, "Ha ha, do you see his hat and boots??" He cracked up and told her all about how he was from Texas. She told him how all of her daddy's fam lives in Texas!
It turned out to be a sweet little conversation on the frozen foods aisle where as luck would have it we were in search of Texas Toast for this yummy recipe Mary made at the lake last weekend!

Like a Chinese Cabbage
Jay doesn't get much time on the blog -- yet -- but I had to share this from my weekly updates. Without them, there is no way I'd remember how many weeks I am. Quite a change from my first pregnancy where I probably could have told you down to the week and day!
Today I am at 28 weeks, which sounds crazy when I think that means there are only 11-12 weeks left! Did you know that at 28 weeks, babies are the size of a Chinese Cabbage? Cracked up when I read that.

28 Weeks: Your baby is equal in weight to a Chinese cabbage -- about 2 1/4 pounds.
(Length: almost 15 inches, from head to heel.)
No other Jay updates really. I had a checkup yesterday and things are right on track. Very grateful for a routine and seemingly easy pregnancy. We are thinking c-section December 10 maybe. He moves so much more than we remember Kirkley moving. We hope that isn't a sign that he's going to be a wild child! :)
We talked in Bible study this morning about how amazing God is that He has created us down to every last detail. When I read the updates about Jay, I am just in awe at God's handiwork and how He doesn't miss a single thing:
He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. He's also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well."

Daily Devo
I love getting these on my morning email from Proverbs 31 Ministries. Today's was filled with reminders I so needed to hear.
"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.
We do not know what we ought to pray for,
but the Spirit himself intercedes for us
with groans that words cannot express."
Romans 8:26

Tiger Time
One of our favorite times of year is upon us! We hit the town this morning for a little tiger photo shoot. She was beside herself to see the tiger and then couldn't believe she got to ride him!

First Official Haircut
Kirkley went for her first official haircut today! She'd had a few trims by mommy, but it was time for some professional shaping up. We went yesterday to scope it out, meet Megan who'd be cutting her hair, and talk through the process. When we went today, she was all set and did a great job! Thanks Megan!!!

She was so proud when she was done and of course super excited to get her sucker for obeying and sitting still!
