Beach Trip 2009

We had a great long weekend at the beach! Such a treat to get away -- Kirkley was thrilled that Grammy and Pa Pa came too! We got there late Friday night so she woke up first thing Saturday morning announcing, "I ready to go to the beach!!!" Don't you know we were down at the beach by 7:30am! She'd play an hour or so and then was ready for the next activity. Lots of pictures in this post...I couldn't narrow down and I'm too lazy to do a collage!

I love her look of concentration -- that tongue always comes out when she's really trying!
We attempted a photoshoot on the beach.
She was way distracted and only wanted to play in the sand and water!
Please tell me this randomly happens in your photoshoots! :)

We had such a fun weekend filled with building sandcastles, swimming, good eating, chasing crabs, and hanging out!

A cowboy!!!

Kirkley and I were at the grocery store yesterday afternoon when she spotted a guy standing right next to us in a cowboy hat and boots. Loud as could be, she announces, "A cowboy!" I did not exactly know what to say other than a nervous, "Ha ha, do you see his hat and boots??" He cracked up and told her all about how he was from Texas. She told him how all of her daddy's fam lives in Texas!

It turned out to be a sweet little conversation on the frozen foods aisle where as luck would have it we were in search of Texas Toast for this yummy recipe Mary made at the lake last weekend!

Like a Chinese Cabbage

Jay doesn't get much time on the blog -- yet -- but I had to share this from my weekly updates. Without them, there is no way I'd remember how many weeks I am. Quite a change from my first pregnancy where I probably could have told you down to the week and day!

Today I am at 28 weeks, which sounds crazy when I think that means there are only 11-12 weeks left! Did you know that at 28 weeks, babies are the size of a Chinese Cabbage? Cracked up when I read that.
28 Weeks: Your baby is equal in weight to a Chinese cabbage -- about 2 1/4 pounds.
(Length: almost 15 inches, from head to heel.)

No other Jay updates really. I had a checkup yesterday and things are right on track. Very grateful for a routine and seemingly easy pregnancy. We are thinking c-section December 10 maybe. He moves so much more than we remember Kirkley moving. We hope that isn't a sign that he's going to be a wild child! :)

We talked in Bible study this morning about how amazing God is that He has created us down to every last detail. When I read the updates about Jay, I am just in awe at God's handiwork and how He doesn't miss a single thing:
He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. He's also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

"For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
Psalm 139:13-14

Lake Weekend 2009

We had our seventh annual lake trip with the Fitts and Johnson families last weekend. Funny to compare the pics to last year's. The kids all loved the boat ride! Kirkley loved getting to go on the "scooter" aka jet ski with her daddy!!! We had a fantastic weekend -- thanks Johnsons for hosting!

Daily Devo

I love getting these on my morning email from Proverbs 31 Ministries. Today's was filled with reminders I so needed to hear.

"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.
We do not know what we ought to pray for,
but the Spirit himself intercedes for us
with groans that words cannot express."

Romans 8:26

B and C

We've been keeping up with doing letter activities. A friend sent me a blog with ALL sorts of activities: letter lacing cards, magnet boards, etc. some of which are easy to make. We've had fun messing with it all. Today we did the letter C which was a hit with chocolate chip C and Cheerios C! She got to eat 3 before we started then couldn't have any more until the end. The C activity was a WELCOME distraction on potty training boot camp day 3. More about that later! :)

Tiger Time

One of our favorite times of year is upon us! We hit the town this morning for a little tiger photo shoot. She was beside herself to see the tiger and then couldn't believe she got to ride him!

First Official Haircut

Kirkley went for her first official haircut today! She'd had a few trims by mommy, but it was time for some professional shaping up. We went yesterday to scope it out, meet Megan who'd be cutting her hair, and talk through the process. When we went today, she was all set and did a great job! Thanks Megan!!!

She was so proud when she was done and of course super excited to get her sucker for obeying and sitting still!
