Pool Fun

We're attempting to enjoy the last few weeks of summer!
We hit the pool this morning for a bit.

For whatever reason, Jay cannot sit up straight in his baby floats.
He's either laid back or leaning forward about to climb out.

Kirkley still doesn't understand the "being gentle" concept.
Glad he can pretty much take what she dishes. He'll get her back soon enough.
And the concept that things are just for babies has not sunk in.
Barrons, I promise your baby float still floats! The pics look easy breezy like it was a day at the pool -- they leave out the fact that it took 92 trips to the car for me to load/unload/load/unload, Jay gagged on a Ritz and I had to hose down the concrete, Kirkley kept yanking at his float making me feel like he was going to flip at any second, etc. Just being real! :) But it did provide a bit of out of the house fun while it lasted.
I think we'll wait for daddy to go with us next time.

First Day of 3yr Old Preschool

Kirkley started back to preschool today. As a 3yr old, she has to attend 3 days a week. We are thankful she was excited this morning -- last year took some encouraging each day! We've had fun the past few days making teacher and classmate treats, getting her things together, back to school feast, etc. Trying to keep up the goofy traditions I started last year has been a task! :)

She gobbled up apple pancakes then was a sport about posing with all of us before school...

She settled right in when she got there making dots....

After her nap, we carried on a tradition from Alex's family: chocolate chip cookies and lemonade on the first day of school. First day interview:

What was your favorite thing you did at school?
"Circle time and cooking in the kitchen."

What friends did you play with?
"Parker and Margie Grace"

What songs did you sing?
"We're going on a bear hunt!"

What was snack?
"Cheez-its"

What did you make at school?
"We stamped on a caterpillar."

This is fun to look at (if you're a family member and can handle this many pics) -- first day of 2yr old preschool from last year!

I have lots of first day of preschool pics, but I had to go ahead and post this one that I grabbed this morning. Jay locks his legs to stand now instead of sit. This one of him and Alex is precious! I love his little arm rolls!

it's not pretty -- a one-armed army crawl.
slowly but surely {with lots of panting} i reach my destination!

Lake Weekend

We enjoyed a great weekend at the lake with Grammy and Papa,
Aunt Donna and Uncle Keith, and lots of cousins!

Kirkley was in heaven with all of the lake activities.

Jay was along for the ride....

I'm trying to encourage an adventurous spirit in K,
which means I have to be adventurous too!
This was her and my first ride!
The condo had a great pool and slide....

Uncle Keith was a great sunset cruise captain....

Lake life agreed with us (other than no sleep!). We'll be back again for some day trips!

Last week we met friends at one of our new favorite places: splash park!

Jay totally got in on the action and sat forever in the teeny shaded part catching the water.

The Kelley girls made the trip over and it was so good to see them!
Selwyn was my college roommate long, long ago.
Now she has 3 precious girls.
The oldest, Lucy, totally entertained Kirkley playing and chasing together.
Everyone was a little sad to leave -- we'll be back again!
I love Bonnie in the background begging for the big girls to wait on her!

We're starting to see lots of stretching, scooting, and pre-crawling movements around here!
I am fine for him to take his time! :)
