sleeping beauties

I love love love peeking at these sweeties asleep. They're so peaceful and quiet -- you'd never guess how wild it is around here with one look at them sleeping! Jay graduated out of the swaddle and head pillow this week. His favorite position is twisted back on his side. He threatens to suck his thumb (he never took a paci and we didn't push it) but usually just conks out on his own.

Kirkley's favorite sleeping spot this week is with her castle tent on top of her bed. She is SO particular about everything: blankie first (silky side down), sheet next, feeties and hands tucked in, door shut to the castle....We have no idea where she got her bossiness specificity from! :) We are desperate to keep her in her bed so we try anything!!!
Sweet dreams!

Slow down!

How on earth can Jay already be wanting to stand up!?!? Maybe those stocky legs provide awesome support!! Don't be fooled -- he only stayed like this for a few seconds! :) We're just now getting the exersaucer out and he's already wanting to stand. There is NO more laying on the ground in his play gym for any amount of time -- he wants to be upright, checking everything out!

The United Steak of Amewica

I figured out how to post video! :) Kirkley learned the pledge this year at school. We'll be driving in the car, she'll see a flag, and she'll spontaneously start saying the pledge! Note the bedhead, timer and brother in the background, Phoebe walks by -- this is some fancy videography!

Blessed be the Name!

Kirkley has not stopped singing her CBS songs even though Wednesday was our last day! Brother may need to be strapped into a car seat for a long while to play with her! :)

Grandma's Boy

This nugget is turning out to be a real grandma's boy! We are so blessed to have family in town -- especially family that allows for drop-offs from time to time! Jay loves going to his great grandparents' house and is always laughing when I leave and pick up. Kirkley was hilarious last night repeating my directions for grandma to "rock him and he might go to sleep!"
And I just have to add, don't I have a great looking grandma!? :) Hardly any grays or wrinkles! I sure hope that is genetic!!!

Sugar Pie, Honey Buns

We had a brief moment this morning where we all got to snuggle in jammies...it was GREAT after our busy weekend -- we're still trying to recover! Kirkley asked to hold Jay and called him "Sugar Pie, Honey Buns." Usually she says, "Let me hold that sweet little baby!" Hilarious that she picked that up from someone. Of course this was about thirty seconds after asking if we could "put him back in mommy's tummy." Sibling love is hot and cold around here! :)

Jay's Dedication

We had Jay's dedication at church today -- everyone did great and it was really precious to have so much of our family there for this special time. We are members of a Baptist church where it's traditional to dedicate your children as infants -- meaning we as parents dedicate ourselves to raising Kirkley and Jay in a Christian home. Totally intimidating and certainly only possible with God's help and much support and guidance from friends and family!

Before the service -- Kirkley was having a blast being in "big church"! Jay was just taking it all in...
Everyone was quiet on stage so I was relieved after the service...until I saw this picture:
My family assures me that finger didn't do anything crazy -- we'll see when we get the DVD! :) We laughed a lot at the pic!

Jay thoroughly enjoyed his brunch!
Then I have like 15 pics of the kids with every family member that was here -- sending yall a link!!! Thank you thank you for being a part!

"My Pony Par-tay!"

Kirkley has asked for her own pony part forever since she went to pony parties that her friends had. She has SO been looking forward to this day! She ran all around Saturday morning saying, "I'm so excited about my par-tay!" We had the best time celebrating Kirkley turning, "One, two, THREE!!" I had the hardest time picking out of the 300+ pics -- here are a few faves. Family, I'll send you an album link! :)
She rode and rode and rode Peanut -- all the way back to his trailer to tell him bye!

This post really should be called "It takes a village!" because this party certainly did. I LOVE a big birthday -- I blame it on my Dec 30th bday and that we rarely did anything fun because of the time of year so now I love doing it up big! I'm going to attempt to remember all of our help.... First off, Grammy and Papa's house is the best party spot, and as Kirkley said, "Papa made pretty flowers!" They spent tons of time getting it all ready and perfect and of course tons of time recovering afterward! My sister Donna owns a rental business and is soooo great to let us swoop in and borrow things. Aunt Gloria and Aunt Bonnie were the party set-up, take-down, and staff who did tons and kept the food coming. My grandad always ends up building something or doing odd jobs -- last year's Aubie party cornhole game is still a hit! Uncle Mark was the errand man! Aunt Judi sent the precious pink boots straight from Texas! Then I think every family member helped with set up and clean up in some way!!! The riding pony toys from the Meltons were a hit! Lots of sweet helpers came to play with the little ones: Annah Beth, Grace, Emory, Libby, Brennan, Carla, and Savannah took on and off lots of shoes, colored, and played with all of the kids! We had lots of family in for the weekend, making it even more special! Thanks everyone for EVERYTHING!!!

THREE!

This girlie turned three today! It's hard to believe we have a three year old! We had a fun filled day with lots of her favorite things.

Presents -- a guitar like daddy's!

Pancakes -- three shaped of course!

Chappy's lunch:

With some of her favorite folks!

Cupcakes!

Kirkley was beside herself to take cupcakes to share with her friends at school today. I asked her what she wanted for birthday breakfast, and she said, "Cupcakes!" Her classmates were excited for treats and party whistles!

So sweet seeing all of them say the blessing...

She thinks she is SO big learning how to drink out of a cup! She does pretty good with it!
The party whistles were a hit!

A fun start to birthday week!!!

Four Months

It's hard to believe that Jay has only been around four months! It really seems like he's been around forever!!! Him and his sister are starting to interact more. He is a super happy baby almost all the time, but Kirkley really gets him cracking up! It is precious.

He also started rolling over this week! Right in the middle of his first baby photo shoot while he was in the buff! Hopefully provided for some hilarious pics!

We are ALL over the place with a schedule since starting cereal. Any four month schedule tips would be SO appreciated. I need to move him to a four hour schedule, but I'm so not diligent about it since we stay on the go!

Quite a difference from the day we brought him home until now!!! He's put on a few pounds in these last few months and is already starting to have a little boy look! :)

55 dollars saved!

Sorry family that subscribes to the blog -- another couponing post! :) I've had lots of questions/emails about couponing. Here is basically what I understand and am doing. Things are cheaper at the grocery only if they are on sale plus a coupon. For example, this week at Winn Dixie brownie mixes are buy one get one free. Here is what you see on Southern Savers:

Betty Crocker Family Size Fudge Brownies, 18.3oz., at $2.59 ($1.29 each)
-$1/2 Betty Crocker Supreme Brownie or Muffin Mix, Coupon On Select Products
-.40/1 Betty Crocker Supreme Brownies printable

I would print off the .40 off 1 coupon twice because you are getting two, Winn Dixie doubles coupons .50 and under so you will pay $0.49 a box! This is basically how I am stocking up on items -- I only stock up on things I can get for less than $1 that I would buy anyway. If it is NOT on sale, I still think WM is cheaper and I try to use a coupon there when I can! I know it's confusing, but to inspire you more, my initial Winn Dixie bill was $96, my WD card took it down to $62 and coupons took it down to $41. There were like 3 people behind me and I had a STACK of coupons, but saving $21 from coupons was worth it! :) I also refer to her Need it Now List and $1 or Less List each week to see if there is anything we use on a regular basis.

CVS has great deals this week on baby stuff and coupns for all are online. You have to buy $25 in certain baby items, my coupons took my total down to $16 and I got back $10 to use at CVS. The sale is mostly on the mainstream J&J products -- no vapor bath, bedtime, etc so print coupons twice and just buy extras to stock!

Last favorite is from Canvas People. I had our Christmas card pic of Kirkley and Jay made into an 11 x 14 canvas for $27.94 total. If you have a digital pic you love, I so recommend this. It came in today and I love it! Just have it cropped like you want it before you upload it -- imagine about an inch that goes around the side of the canvas. There is no cropping or centering option I found when ordering so have that part done. Now I have thoroughly overused that image of them! :)

Comment with any tips/tricks you have found!

Good to the last drop!

We paid another visit to the pediatric clinic today for Kirkley who was again running a high fever. We got an antibiotic shot this time to hopefully knock the sick out of her! :) While we waited for them to monitor her after the shot, the doctor went ahead and did Jay's 4 month check up. He checked out okay and we got the go ahead to give him rice cereal -- Jay was so excited when we told him!

He wasn't so sure about it at first.

Sister could not wait to get in on the action!

We were not a bit surprised to see him finish every last drop!

Easter

Easter began at about 12:30am early Sunday morning with a poor little sick girl. She was running a fever so we had a pretty calm Easter at our house -- aside from an eventful trip to the pediatric clinic. We apparently love seeing doctors on Easter! We had a laid back Easter weekend with the fam! Just got her an antibiotic so she's hopefully on the mend....
This one was less than impressed with his Easter loot, but the Easter Bunny didn't forget about him! :)

Happy Easter!

We have already enjoyed lots of sweet Easter events! It feels super special after spending the later half of Holy Week in the hospital last year. We've done a few egg hunts, made bunny cookies, and visited the Easter Bunny! Now we need to boil some eggs for dying and make these -- grab some canned biscuits and large marshmallows and make them too! Super easy and a precious way to explain He is risen!

Graduation Day

Good Friday was good for another reason! Jay graduated from the physical therapy he started several weeks ago. We only had to go for three sessions over the last month or two to get strengthening exercises. Today he got the all clear! Look at that aligned head! :)
I think he's trying to tell us he wants to graduate from his swaddle too! He still turns to the left most of the time in his sleep but not as much as he was!
