My Sidekick

Jay has not done preschool this year and has instead served as my constant sidekick.
Mamas, you know what I mean.  There all. the. time.
I loved seeing a saying on motherhood that said basically,
we used to want it all, now we just want to go to the bathroom alone.  :)
That is exactly the stage we are in together!
But, he sure does make me smile!  Loving this stage...most of the time!

Sidekicks are helpful in all kinds of ways.
Like in Wal-Market, they may play with your iPhone, drop it in the produce section, and you may not even notice till you get to self check out when you wonder why are you self checking out $100 in groceries with a toddler in your grocery cart and a baby strapped in the bjorn and where on earth is your phone!?
Thus a search through the market, high and low, asking strangers to call your phone, etc. ensues.
Finally, I went to the produce lady to see if anyone had found a phone, and thankfully it had been turned into customer service.  My self checking out and searching apparently allowed for plenty of time for the customer service lady to text and call about 15 of my recent contacts (you know, my CBS leader, K's preschool teacher, etc.) to let them know I was totally irresponsible. They then all then called my man's office.  When I appeared to get my phone, she acted like this may not in fact be my phone, as if I troll Wal-Market for phones with a toddler and a baby.  After I asked her if the screen had "this baby's face on it!?" she handed it over! :)  Again, sidekicks so helpful!

I decided God was telling me on my next trip to the grocery, stock up on pre-sliced fruits and veggies and uncrustables.  I cannot get in a cooking groove...considering some freezer cooking from this site.
They also have toddler freezer food ideas that would help a ton with lunch!

Two year old sidekicks can be big helpers -- putting up laundry, getting new diapers, throwing things away, etc.

They also like to dump out every toy, puzzle piece, game, car set, etc. all at once,
as well as never notifying you (or the childcare workers at church) of their dirty diaper until it's made its way to nastying up clothes, shoes, church carpets (requiring professional cleaning), etc.

All of my sidekick's super cuteness makes up for his misplacing and has me giving in to more tv time than I'd like...

Again, super cute at lunch...

At the library where he thought we'd gone to play on the computer rather than hear a story...
Helping me work out...
He brings me The Shred dvd and asks to exercise!  I need the motivation! :)

Stealing brother's bumbo...

And he goes down for nap like a champ...just never know how I'll find him later!

All in all, sidekicks are not so bad! :)  Just know where your phone is when they're around!

"Command them to do good,
to be rich in good deeds,
and to be generous and willing to share."
