Turkey Trot

We all loaded up to do the Turkey Trot this morning!

unnamed no more!

It dawned on me today that last Thanksgiving, this nugget didn't even have a name.

And here we are a year later chasing him around...

Watching him learn to walk and explore...

What a sweet little blessing he is to our family!

We enjoyed fun time outside today in the gorgeous fall weather visiting with grandparents.

The bigs escaped over to Grammy's -- we don't have Mac to ourselves alone too often! :)

It was so fun just to watch him and be able to focus on him, see him explore, etc.

And another one to be thankful for off work early today!

Love these guys!!

May we not miss seeing all of the blessings He's giving each day!

As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging.  

When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening.  

They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”

He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, 

but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

 Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to Him. 

When he came near, Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” 

“Lord, I want to see,” he replied.

Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has healed you.”

Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. 

When all the people saw it, they also praised God.

Pilgrim Pride!

Kirkley's Thanksgiving program was today.  Lots of precious kindergarten pilgrims!

She graduated from Indian to Pilgrim this year and was so excited to show off the outfit she helped sew!!

Lots of sweet pilgrim friends!

 

And one thankful mama!

"Be joyful always; 

 pray continually;  

give thanks in all circumstances, 

for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."

Thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving with the newest addition to the family, cousin Elle, or as Kirkley calls her, "my baby sister."  She loves Elle and loved loving on her the whole time!

Hooray that's she's decently good (enough!) at giving a bottle!

We even hit the mall on Black Friday for Gigi to take the kids to Build a Bear.

Kirkley picked out a bear for her new baby brother.

Super sweet seeing them fill the bear with "love"!

Then they got his new bear all cleaned up and ready to come home!

Now he just needs his own spot in the nursery and the nursery to permanently be his!!  :)

"For the LORD is good and His love endures forever;

Two Little Indians

It was the much anticipated Thanksgiving show and feast at Kirkley's school today.

Little did I know that by lunchtime, I'd have two wild Indians on my hands!! 

She was so proud to sing all of her songs with her friends!

And "loved everything" on her plate at the feast with her friends!

Then I took my two for a post party at a playground where little man picked up his first major/minor injury...the first of many panics for this mama of soon to be two little boys!

He stumbled up the stairs of the slide and nailed his chin.

Big sister screamed, "Does he have to go to the hospital!?!?!?" 

The huge blessing was that daddy was at a meeting at a location that provided help and dermabond!!!

My Bible study just a few hours before this had been on God's providential care -- 

I was soooooo grateful for a quick trip rather than a long wait in a dr's office!

So he'll look a little knocked around for a few weeks -- at least Christmas card pics were last weekend!

My kids would eat this applesauce 6x a day if I'd let them!  Good distraction for some pics!

And sweet boy is all good pointing to his "boo boos" every now and then!

We did these wreaths the other morning at our mom2mom Bible study, and I have to say, I am a house decorating skeptic.  I just feel like that is something at this stage of life I have to sort of let go of.  But when they told us, take your kids out for nature walks, use what you collect to decorate, etc. that piqued my interest.  And this little centerpiece on our kitchen table has made me so happy.

A totally different look than the arrangement of wipes and preschool devotional book it replaced.  :)

And it's made me tempted to try magnolia wreaths or an advent arrangement for Christmas!

Also making its first appearance as a tradition after much online inspiration is a thankful tree made from a few front yard branches.

Kirkley has loved "writing" what she's thankful for on it!

Mommy and Daddy would like to add "a good night's sleep" to the tree.

These two have us running a newborn nights kind of schedule around here -- we have 10 more weeks to rest, but somehow they have missed that memo and are up 6+ times a night.

Maybe we'll add that one to the tree before thanksgiving!  :)  ANY sleep tips welcome!

And last little happening: We're working on Psalm 100 with Kirkley.

We were at the lake last weekend with sweet friends who both had their kids memorizing this for Thanksgiving.  My unchurched as a child self was intrigued that this was an obvious choice for this time of year!  So we've taken on our first little chunk of scripture to work on.  I was sooo relieved the first few verses were on one of our Seeds CDs!  

Psalm 100: A psalm. For giving thanks.

 ¹ Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth.
 ² Worship the LORD with gladness;
   come before him with joyful songs.
³ Know that the LORD is God.
   It is he who made us, and we are his;
   we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

 ⁴ Enter his gates with thanksgiving
   and his courts with praise;
   give thanks to him and praise his name.

Thanksgiving Week

Thanksgiving week kicked off with two sick turkeys who were thankfully just a little under the weather and pretty clear in time for the feast!

We had tons of my mom's family in town and kicked off the day at the Turkey Trot 5K. Thanks to my man for staying home with the recovering kiddos!
My family was too fun to do this! I sent them the form sort of as a joke, but they were troopers and came out early for the fun!

My sweet friend Casey also ran it -- her first 5K!

Aunt Gloria of course spoiled all of us staying for several days!
All of the fam was here for the first time in a while -- from Texas, Maine, Georgia, and Florida -- it was great having them here!

And awesome having some extra hands to chase these two who stay on the go!

We had a great thanksgiving and so much to be thankful for!

Turkey Hunt

Our church preschool program hosted a Turkey Hunt for all of the preschoolers. It was super cute and lots of fun! A sweet time for K to see her Sunday School teacher and friends outside of Sunday morning and have some fun!

They had a turkey feather relay race...

And balloons galore!
She didn't want Jay missing out on the candy-filled balloons!Happy turkey week!
