sweet treats!

Boy was I glad to see these two who wanted to carve up a pumpkin with the kids.

It wouldn't have happened otherwise.
week of fun = tired mama

We got kids dressed and ready again to head out for some candy!
Buttoning your pants is optional when you're going to sit in a stroller!

The Vaughns joined us again to hit the neighborhood!

These two cuties will be hitting the streets soon enough for candy!

Super fun night and candy for days!!!

The Neverland Crew

Kirkley decided last fall after being the superhero duo and the year before Dorothy and the Lion, they'd all be Peter Pan charachters this year.
The idea stuck for the whole year, and we have a sweet Neverland crew!

Lots of fun at the fall festival with friends!

 Kindergarten parade time!

And a sleepy Peter Pan!

Resting up for trick or treating tonight!

My little planner has already declared next year they will be Winnie the Pooh characters! :)

A Super Time!

The kids have had a SUPER time this past week with all the fun fall events!
Kirkley came home a few weeks ago after "S" day at school, and declared she knew what her and Jay would be this year.
She was so excited for them to be Super Girl and Super Boy!
She already has next year's costumes lined up that incorporate little brother to come! :)

We hit the fall festival for games, rides, and fun with friends...

Carved up a pumpkin...

Had a class parade...
I wish you could see the spring in her step as she pranced in the parade!

And made the rounds visiting family and friends...

We hit a few houses in the neighborhood, then the kids had the best time handing out candy!
Kirkley loved handing out the candy, and it was hilarious hearing her talk to everyone:
"I love your costume!"
"Happy Halloween to you too!"
Then a boy came to the door probably 8 years old dressed as a skeleton.
We heard her call out to him, "I love your bones!"
Classic Kirkley.  Love it!  Such a fun time of year!!

"Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket,
but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.
In the same way, let your light shine before others,
so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."
Matthew 5:15-16

Off to see the Wizard!

Dorothy and the Lion headed to the fall festival last night! Thankfully the weather cooled down and Jay did great in his costume!

The train ride was a fave for both...
Kirkley buzzed around playing all of the games.
Chicken soup was her favorite which totally grossed me out.
It was a huge pot of water, onion, etc. that she threw a wet, slimy rubber chicken into!

Jay did great as a spectator!

We ran into lots of sweet friends!
Red Riding Hood is her precious friend Margie Grace from her preschool class.
They are so cute together and so excited when they run into each other!

It was a long night for the Lion!

Kirkley also informed Alex as he tried to snag her Whoppers that she "trick or treated for that candy!" Don't think she's sharing! :) Better pick him up some treats!

Costume Parade

Kirkley's class had a costume parade this morning to show off their cute cute outfits! They all looked adorable. Toto has been the favorite part of her costume -- she gripped him closely the whole parade!

K looked like she'd waited all of her life to do big pageant waves! She was sooo excited to see her brother and wave to him!
He even looks distracted from his Cheerio eating and excited to see her too like we didn't just drop her off 15 minutes earlier -- long lost friends! A stark contrast to what's been going on at home a lot of the time with Jay cruising all around and getting his hands on her stuff! I'm glad to see sweet moments like this one!!!

One Little Monkey...

Kirkley had a great time with all of the Halloween festivities! We went to church carnivals, trick-or-treated at the grandparents' and Lala's, and ate lots of sugar! She was so funny this year about a costume. We looked and looked at the online and in catalogs, and she wasn't drawn to anything. Then one day we were reading the Five Little Monkeys, and she thought dressing up as one of them would be hilarious -- with the "bump" on her head and all!

Trick or Treat!

We had such a fun evening taking Kirkley around for her first night of trick or treating! We stopped by our sweet neighbors, surprised the grandparents, and strolled with the Stephens and Vaughns. We're a little concerned we'll have to reateach her next year that you don't go in everyone's house and hang out. So great to see everyone! No candy was collected, but she had lots of fun! Not many smiles as this was totally pushing bedtime. She's looking pretty zoned out by the end...
