Sarah Beth's mom knows I love to bake and brought me some of her sourdough starter a week or two ago. Sarah Beth tried it this week so I thought I would too...we are dying laughing at the results!!!

Couldn't decide which picture was more appetizing! So I didn't totally follow the directions and instead used some breadmaking tips from Good Eats. I'll give it one more shot and follow her mom's directions exactly...then she can have all of my bread flour and potato flakes (to feed the starter!) if I can't do it.I would love to be able to make this! My stepmom's Mamo used to make homemade sourdough bread that was fluffy and sweet. I'm hoping someone has the recipe for Mamo Bread as we always called it. The upside is my house still smells great even though my bread looks crazy -- and it's semi-edible! I'm about ready to crown Sarah Beth the breadmaking queen!

my mother used to make sourdough bread when i was little - i still remember the starter in the old crock she kept in the garage refrigerator that she fed each week. i keep meaning to ask her why she stopped making it!
good luck - you'll get it. and i want one of the loaves when you finally figure it out. i really can smell those yummy loaves through the screen.....yum!
Oh that made me laugh out loud!!! Thanks for sharing - I am certain you'll get it and we'll all get to benefit! I have such fond memories of that bread when I was a child...maybe you can teach me?
This really should so be the other way around! You are amazing in the kitchen & I am always cooking your recipes and using all your great tips...Don't give up quiet yet! If I can do it then you will for sure get it. Can't wait for the another loaf to appear on my doorstep that we are not dying laughing over!

My mom use to make a sour dough coffee cake that I LOVED. I see if she still has the recipe. :)
