We're not above it

Bribery that is.

Note two things in this picture:
1) No paci
2) baby dolls
Kirkley has been paci-free for a week as of today. I've been waiting to blog about it as I thought I may give in and give it back! :)

We were in the middle of our bedtime routine, and it got misplaced so we jumped at the opportunity to discuss how big girls don't need pacis, your friends so and so don't use pacis, Aubie doesn't sleep with a paci, etc. Then we promised she could go get a {dollar tree} toy in the morning if she slept without it. After some coersion to stay in bed, it worked and first thing when she woke up, she knew she was headed to get a toy -- a new baby doll was what she wanted {to go with her 8 others}.

So off we went to the Dollar Tree to buy a baby first thing when they opened. We talked on the way about what baby's name should be -- she's never named anything on her own. Suddenly she says, "Baby Judi -- not Dawson, not Mimi, Baby Judi." Judi is her Aunt, Dawson is her cousin, and Mimi is her great-grandmother.

The name has stuck, however Baby Judi #1 has not -- her head quickly came halfway off, she went to the doctor, and another Baby Judi appeared {from her stash of babies in the playroom}. Baby Judi goes everywhere with her -- shopping, to Daddy's office, car rides, night night, etc.

Now giving up the paci wasn't quite that magical. The nap before we gave up the paci, she fought going down big time -- don't know why we thought that night would be a grand time to try no paci. We've spent a week taking a long time getting her down...until last night when I remembered what got her happy about her big girl bed: popsicles. Worked for that, and she forgot about them after a few days once she was in the routine. I can live with the 60 cal popsicle in the morning with breakfast since she gets no juice. :) And it's working -- two nights down! Trying to put her down early is tricky with the summer sun in her room till 8pm! Working on getting her down early since she's up on the dot at 5:30am no matter what.

All that to say -- we're not above a little positive reinforcement!
